Changes to ILF for 2010/2011
There have been some significant changes to ILF which will come into effect on the 1st of May 2010.
- ILF can now be awarded over a year in the same way as direct payments.
- Recipients will still be able to have their ILF in variable payments to make things easier for them.
- The board of trustees has decided to allow payments to continue for up to 28 days if the recipient is admitted into hospital in spite of if the recipient's type of care is employed by the recipient, self employed or agency.
- Knowing that recipients care needs can change, ILF will now allow any unspent funding to be carried forward for up to 28 days.
- Measures are also being looked into so that when local authorities decide to reduce their input that payments are not suspended.
- As the number of current applications exceeds the current funding for ILF, from the 1st of May 2010, applicants applying from the second priority group will only be considered if they work in paid employment of 16 or more hours per week.
- For recipients who request additional funding for changes in need and new recipients of ILF the local authority will now increase their minimum contribution from £320 per week to £340 per week.
